Want to know the secret to keeping your customers cheery all year long? Being transparent and proactive when it comes to holiday closures and modified hours. Keeping your customers up to date boosts credibility and allows them to plan their shopping accordingly. Summit Digital Marketing is here to show you how to update holiday hours on your Google My Business (now Google Business Profile) so you can improve the customer experience and drive traffic all year long!

How to Update Holiday Hours on Google Business Profile

Step 1: Sign in to Your Google Business Profile Manager:

  1. Log in to the Google account associated with your business and navigate to Google Business Profile Manager.
  2. Access your Business Profile by clicking on “see your profile”.

Step 2: Select “Edit Profile”

Now that you’ve reached your business profile, navigate to the “edit profile button.” You will see a small icon that looks like a storefront to the left of the “reviews” button.

Step 3: Locate the Hours Tab

  1. Once you’ve located the hours tab, scroll down until you find the "Special Hours" section. This is where you can edit your holiday hours.
  2. Click on the pencil icon or “add hours” (if you’ve never added special hours before).

Step 4: Add Special Hours

  1. If you are editing your hours for a national holiday, you can simply select “review” next to the holiday you want to edit.
  2. From there, you can set special hours or click the “closed” check box if applicable.
  3. Once you’ve entered all of the dates, click “save.”

Step 5: Input Your Holiday Hours

  1. If you don’t see the date or holiday you’re looking for, you can add additional special holiday hours by clicking “add a date.”
  2. On the calendar, choose the date you want to add and click “ok.”
  3. Next, enter the special opening and closing hours. If you're closed on that particular day, mark the day as “closed” in the check box.
  4. Repeat steps a-c if there are other dates you wish to add.
  5. Once you have entered all of your dates, click “save.”

Step 6: Review and Confirm

The final step in optimizing your Google Business Profile is double-checking your holiday hours for accuracy. Any updated special hours will be highlighted in yellow.

Why Are Google Business Profile Optimizations Important?

Keeping your customers informed about modified hours and holiday closures is essential to building rapport, and is a courtesy that doesn’t go unnoticed. Inaccurate or scarce information about your business can end your consumer’s journey before it even begins, but leveraging your GBP as a snapshot of your business will improve the user experience and drive traffic online and in stores.
